Spring 2026 Capstone
My INDS Degree
My degree plan will integrate various fine arts disciplines, including dance, visual arts, photography, and cinematic arts. These disciplines will further my understanding of the arts, equip me with the skills to be an effective User Experience and User Interface designer, advance my creative portfolio, and help me understand the needs of artists like me. It will also acquire tools from Information Systems and Human-Computer Interaction. The information acquired from these disciplines will enable me to build a strong technical and artistic foundation to be a UX/UI designer and an independent artist who can work in both fields of study and, more specifically, in their integration.
Post Graduation Plans
After graduation, I plan to further my education while continuing to explore the ways in which art and technology can be integrated. I plan to work with organizations that are discovering, creating, and equipping artists with new and innovative tools they might utilize to expand their creativity.
Courses In My INDS Degree
✅ Visual Art: Build foundational knowledge of the art practice, the development of various art mediums, and the tools needed to create various artistic pieces. Developing skills in the visual arts is crucial in the artistic and creative processes associated with art in the technological world, and for every other medium. The skills acquired here will translate into digital design, visual design, and their integrations. For my pursuits as an independent artist, Sound design will enable me to address what is often half of the experience for audiences. Understanding how to develop effective audio will help me reach and impact audiences and conduct their experiences through the sense of hearing. (ART 210, 211, 213, 347, 383)
✅Information Systems: Learn more about the technological, technical, coding skills required to create interfaces. Including the artistic elements to interface development. The acquisition of these skills will enable one to build the foundational technological skills that can be applied and integrated with various artistic disciplines, and further expand the potential of connectivity between these mediums and within this exploration. The list includes Information Systems courses with elements that teach coding and design. It also includes courses that teach project development and management, providing both soft and technical skills in the technological development world. ✅Dance: Build foundational knowledge in dance and of various dance practices. In addition to this, engage in research and compositional studies on the integration of technology within this artistic medium. Dance is one discipline of artistic expression that can bridge the gap between the physical and technological worlds, further expanding knowledge of art and technological integration through the application of technology within this medium. Some of the integrations I intend to explore after graduation is the development of interfaces for dancers and artists regarding art education, as well as the integration of technology into my compositional work.
