Thalia Añora

Thalia received funding for their undergraduate research project “Thinking Thru the Lens” , which is a participatory and creative research project that aims to investigate community through artistic practice. Specifically, how “thinking creatively” can potentially create points of belonging, or even language without words. To achieve this, Thalia will utilize photography as our main artistic medium, and participants will answer the following prompts through a week long photo-taking period:
– Where/ When do you feel connected to your community?
– What has informed your perception of your community?
– What does community look like for you?

Summer 2025 Recipients

 

Ephrata Mangesha

Ephrata received funding to attend the UMBC Faculty-Led: Global Community Engagement and Social Change in South Africa study abroad program. This program combined site visits, lectures, and community based learning to help us understand the ongoing challenges and opportunities for justice and equity in a post-apartheid society.

 

Chloe Weaver

Chloe attend the Tribeca Film Festival. Chloe was able to receive the Tribeca Storytelling Summit Badge and the Yanuni. Chloe was able to explore her research on “Networking and Research of Methodologies in Film and TV Production for “Paradox”, an animated original series from Chloe Weaver

Evan McRae

Evan was able to attend the virtual session of the Gaming Sound Conference 2024. His learning has informed his INDS Capstone Project, which involves composing and implementing an adaptive soundtrack for a student-developed video game.
